Business Inventories is an economic figure that measures the monthly percentage changes in inventories held by manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers across the nation. It is a monthly report released by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Inventories are a key component of gross domestic product. If inventories are rising faster than sales, this indicates that the economy is slowing down.
