The Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) is a type of trade bloc that aims at integrating the economies of member states of the European Union.

The decision to form MCU was initially accepted in December 1991, which later became part of the Maastricht Treaty (the Treaty on European Union).

The European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) merges EU member states into a cohesive economic system. It is the successor of the European Monetary System (EMS).
