An exponential moving average (EMA) is a type of moving average (MA) lines, that measures the average of prices over a given time. EMA adds a greater weight and significance on the most recent data points. While a simple moving average (SMA) gives an equal weight to all data points in the period, EMA reacts more significantly to recent price changes.
